How to check an RV potable water fill

On this page

If you need to fill an RV’s fresh-water tank, ask for a potable drinking-water fill. A dump station, a rinse hose or a campsite hookup does not establish that passing travelers can fill a tank there.

Check the water type

We use three states in the directory: a potable fill is confirmed, potable water is not available, or the source does not confirm it. “Not confirmed” leaves the question open; it is not a promise that a tap will be there.

The City of Meridian dump site is a clear example. Its official page lists free residential dumping and explicitly excludes potable water. You would need a separate fresh-water stop.

Check visitor access

An RV park may have water hookups for booked campsites. That does not establish a fill service for a traveler who is not staying there. A storage site may also restrict amenities to tenants.

Ask the operator: “Do you have a potable drinking-water tap where a visiting RV can fill its fresh-water tank without a campsite or storage booking?” Then ask where to enter and whether you need an appointment.

Check the fill fee and hours

Ask for the water-fill price as its own line item. A dump fee might cover only wastewater disposal. Confirm that the fill service operates at your arrival time, rather than relying on general office or campground hours.

Ask about the connection and whether you need to bring your own drinking-water hose. Follow the operator’s tap labels and your RV manufacturer’s instructions; this guide compares access, not tank-cleaning or sanitizing procedures.

What our current sources establish

Meridian lists no potable water. The sources reviewed for Boise Riverside, Dalby Drive, Pikes Peak RV and Falcon do not establish a visitor potable fill. Our directory keeps that field unknown instead of treating a dump service as a water service.

Compare Boise-area dump stops or Colorado Springs dump stops. If you find a current operator source confirming a public fill, send the details.
